Controversial Greek philosopher Heraclitus once noted: “No man ever steps in the same river twice. For it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” But that was for an actual stream of water, not a data stream. With today’s information systems, you can arguably step in the same data stream all you want, just by rolling back the time series and doing it again! When might that be appropriate?
